In loving memory
Last few days were quite tough for us. My father in law passed away on 28 July. May God rest his soul in peace. He was suffering from pseudo obstruction disease for more than an year. The diseases causes problems in small intestine contraction and doesn't push the food forward leading to lot other problems. When we loose faith from mortal resources, we look towards to almighty God but there are a few things,e.g., destiny which can't be changed at least in these type of cases. As per Hindu mythology, the time of every individual's birth and departure time is already fixed. And in spite of the efforts, these can not be changed. This should not be related to normal problems caused by ignorance or lack of knowledge. There are deaths because of lack of nutrition, education, child marriages and much more and these are out of context here. We still can't believe about his demise and he is no more now but we'll have to accept the truth. I am (and will always be) inspired by his courageous acts, discipline, straightforwardness and most importantly his loving nature. Current Mood: sad | | Thursday, July 16th, 2009 | | 9:38 pm |
Big B : Total recall

Update
Last week I attended 'Assertiveness and Influential Skills'. The bottom line is, (a) You should be the person of substance. Deep, thoughtful and concerned about others. (b) Keep you data straight. Usually, such classes are time pass but this was some thing worth and I'd recommend for freshers as well as for professionals to go through this one. | | Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 | | 10:03 am |
Update
It has been a big gap since last post. So many changes in the short time which reminds the old saying, 'Change is the only constant'. I'd like to share two things in this post. the first post is all about the leadership by example and the other one is Warren Buffet's advice for 2009 which is very realistic. I believe this is very close to what middle class Indian families do and how they manage their economics. These seem to be true, realistic and convincing but implementing those is tricky part and that's where ones dedication and perseverance kick in. (a) Leadership Strategies and Tactics (Details : http://finance.yahoo.com/expert/article/leadership/155008)
Here are six leadership strategies and tactics to sum it all up: 1. Don't be afraid to set ambitious goals for your work and life, as long as you can build a specific, credible, multidimensional plan to achieve them. 2. The more your goals are directed at benefiting people beyond yourself, the more likely you'll be to achieve success by inspiring others to support you along the way. 3. Good questions make a good leader. Focus on the quality of your questions to stimulate the most compelling feedback and answers. Experiment, collect questions from people such as colleagues or newscasters, and see what works. 4. To lead people in uncertain times, project a sense of continuity, of having managed through similarly difficult predicaments. Just as panic is contagious, so too is a feeling of calm, which, when it kicks in, can settle the frayed nerves of those around you. 5. Beyond market-leading performance, the greatest source of long-term job security isn't a pre-negotiated employment contract with a golden parachute and rich severance package. Rather, it is to maintain your reputation and integrity at all costs, and be able to articulate what you've done, why you did it, and what the outcomes and lessons learned were. 6. The two most important characteristics of world-class performance are the ability to develop mental toughness and the power of deliberate practice. Mental toughness -- the ability to come through and deliver in the moment of truth -- is the key characteristic that distinguishes the greatest performers from everyone else. And, contrary to what most people believe, this is actually a learnable skill. (b) Warren Buffett's advice for 2009 (http://www.financialexpress.com/news/warren-buffetts-advice-for-2009/423658/)Hard work : All <input ... >hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to <input ... >poverty. Laziness : A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current. Earnings : Never depend on a single source of income. (at least make your Invest meats get you second earning) Spending: If you buy things you don’t need. you'll soon sell things you need, Savings: Don’t save what is left after sending; Spend what is left after saving. Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lenders slave. Accounting: Its no use carrying an umbrella if your shoes are leaking. Auditing: Beware or little expenses; A small leak can sink a large ship. Risk-taking: Never test the depth or the river with both feet. (Have an alternate plan ready) Investment : Don't put all your eggs in one basket. More in next update. Kosi on rampage
Kosi river went on rampage for last few days in Bihar state on India and hundreds of villages were drown destroying crops, fields, houses and dreams of lacs of people. I was watching a news channel and came to know that there have not been much rescue operatrions for people with shattered dreams. Neither government or local people or so called NGOs did not turn up to help those? Why? because there are low profiles villages not the hyped metro or big cities ... or because these people do not have influence? Is the value of human lives so cheap? Where are the moral values? How have we become? We cann't blame giverment and politicians as these are from the society. No one bothered to atleast give a word of sympaty to these poor folks. Our sensitivity has gone for a toss and it seems we are mechanical people OR we try to help (so called) where it's advertised or some one praises ... We are becoming machines with 0 fellings. It reminds me the song from old Bollywood classic Anari (Kisi ki muskurahaton ...) At last a good news is the excess water of Kosi is going into Ganga river. Details are at timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Relief_as_Kosi_water_gets_outflow_into_Ganga_/articleshow/3429290.cmsI also have a few commens about the traffic and self discipline which I'll write later. How I should be?
I look around people, myself, past and it's very difficult to have a framework where I should fit in. I mean it is too difficult to have a set of permissible tasks for a human being. There are no specific Do's or Don'ts. Instead of thinking, how I should be ... I'd think 'What I'd be?' and the immediate answer is 'Happy'. There are again difference or arguments about the definition of Happy. What does Happy or Happiness means here? - Money? How much? - Success in professional life? What level? Wheat's the final goal? - Happy family life. Does this mean no though or ego differences? But it's difficult. - Social status? Should I be a hero or role model or an icon ? - Spiritual / religious work? What and how long? Is it rewarded/awarded? There is no concrete answer ... and mostly it's relative. So the search begin ... | | Sunday, January 13th, 2008 | | 7:34 pm |
Now is the time
"Yesterday is only a memory and tomorrow is but a dream. There is only Now -- the Eternal Now -- which is forever." Let us live in the Now! Let us live without criticism, without questioning, desiring nothing, taking everything as it comes, without attachment and without regrets-- and we will have lived well. ---xxx--- This inspirational quote comes from 'DAILY APPOINTMENT WITH GOD' by great Shri J. P. Vaswaniji. | | Saturday, January 5th, 2008 | | 11:38 pm |
Wish you a very happy and prosperous new year
I wish you a very happy and prosperous new year. I have been thinking of some resolutions but could not finalize them. But I have at least the followings, (a) Save time - Act and work smart - Don't keep pending things and avoid them to become urgent from important (b) Participate in Go-Green - Avoid paper wastage and try to plant more trees - save electricity and water in whatever way I can (c) Read at least one book a month (d) Philanthropy - I have been a part of http://www.sfordline.org/ . I'll try be active in this forum These are personal goals committed to myself and are different from my career or technical goals. Recently, I started reading a book 'Bedtime Mailbox' compiled by Dr. AK Bakthavatsalam and R Gururaj. It's from Unicorn publications. An awesome book! A snippet from the book, <snip> Happiness keeps you Sweet Trials keep you Strong Sorrow keeps you Human Failure keeps you Humble Success keeps you Glowing But only God keeps you going ... </snip> A big thank you to the authors and the publishers. Last week I also went to a movie 'Taree Zameen Par' (Stars on the Earth). A great movie by a perfectionist actor (Aamir Khan)! Enough for today ... Take care. | | Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008 | | 9:53 pm |

Happy B'day Mr Bachchan
Yesterday, it was Mr Bachchan's birthday .... All Hindi movie channels (Sony/Zee cinema/Star Gold/ what else) were showing AB's super duper hit movies, 'Kala Paththar', 'Deewaar', 'Chupke chupke', 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Black', 'Don' ... to name a few ... Nauratris (Nine nights) festival starts from today. It'll be continued for nine days. Hindu goddess Mother Durga is worshiped these days. Mother Durga is also an indication of Shakti (Power). Hindu god Ram has also worshiped the Mother Durga before destroying Ravana (the symbol of devil). This a very good time to chant 'Ram Raksha Strota'. During these days, Gujraatis/Rajasthanis (and now most of the Indians) play dandia/garba dance. A glimpse of the same can be viewed in following bollywood songs, - Naam re, sabse bada tera naam re, O sherron waali ('Suhaag' Amitabh Bachchan/Rekha/Sashi Kapoor) - Dholi Taron, dhol baje ('Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' Salmaan Khan/Ajay Devgan/Aishwarya) More later. Ganpati visarjan (processing)
Yesterday, we had Ganpati Visarjan (processing) ceremony. We went to Ulsoor lake for the same. There's one pond reserved just for idol processing to avoid pollution in the lake. We brought Ganpati Idol at home on Ganesh Chaturthi (15 Sept). These 10 days were awesome. Also, watched Twenty-20 final world cup between India and Pakistan. What a nail-biting finish. The match could go to any team. I lost hope when 5 runs were needed from 4 balls and switched off the TV :-) Didn't want to see India losing. It was the point where the match could go to any team but India won it luckily. Both the teams had shows professionalism, temprament and their cool. Cheers to both the teams! I should also mention that Jodhpur Association website was inaugarated in the last Jodhpur Association's meeting at Shri Uttam Bhandari's farm house (last saturday). I borrowed AirTel wireless modem to show the demo. That's was a good experience and also as usual fun and good food in Jodhpur Association meet :-) I have not watched Mr. bachchan's AAG. Have to see this probaably this weekend. Current Mood: busy | | Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 | | 1:42 am |

I am writing after a long time ... India celebrates Holi this weekend. Holi is a festival of colours ... In Krishna temple, the celebration starts even much earlier (right from Basant Panchami ... fell on 5th feb ths yr) and it continues till Holi. The celebration in Brij, Brindavan, Mathura is just awesome. BTW, some of the famous Bollywood song on holi are, - Rang barse (Silsila) - Holi khele Raghuveera ... (Baghban) - Holi ke din dil khil jaate hei .. (Sholay) It's not a coincidence that all the songs are from Mr. Bachchan's movies ;-) Happy Holi! Gajendra Moksha
Happy new year greetings to all! I am writing after a long time. I got a chance to read this story of gajendra's moksha at http://dalsabzi.com/bhaagvad/gajendra_mo ksha.htm It's really good, especially these lines (in Hindi language), "Dhyaan dharey man sey mera Karey na chit udaas Samjhey mujhko har samay Hardam apney paas Ghat Ghat mein sansaar key vyaapak main bharpoor Prem sey nitya sameep hoon Prem nahin to door"
Gajendra was the King of elephants. One hot day, he proceeded to the lake with his family to cool off in its fresh waters. But from within the lake a crocodile appeared who attacked him and would not let go of him. When the family and relatives saw ‘death’ coming close to Gajendra, and everyone realised that everything was lost, they left Gajendra alone. Gajendra prayed: ‘Please help me O Lord! Save me from the clutches of Death! "I am not asking you to save me from the clutch of the crocodile, or that I should survive this attack! I am aware that I not only have a body of an elephant but also a fat mind of an elephant! What is the use of keeping this life? I want to be liberated from my Ignorant Mind which hides the resplendent soul! I can only be saved by Your Grace!" The Lord rushed to Gajendra’s aid. The latter offered the Lord a lotus flower. The symbolism : Man is Gajendra
- The world, is the lake where he plays the game of life with family and others.
- The crocodile is ‘Death and Difficulties’ which attack man.
The Lesson:
- Neither family nor friend can liberate one from the clutch of death.
- God answers your prayers.
It is said that if one recites the Gajendra Prayer, one achieves liberation and freedom from frightening dreams! Current Mood: cheerful | | Monday, November 20th, 2006 | | 1:23 pm |

Thought process : continued
Who am I ? Why am I here in the world ? How to achive the goal for which a human being is here on earth ? Probably, all these are eternal questions. I got to hear this last week on one of the TV channels. I don't remember the saint name but he presented a very good story. There was a big queue at an airlines counters ... lots of pessangers were waiting for their turn for boarding pass. One person came and talked to the representative regarding the boarding pass. She asked him to be in queue. Then the fellow shouted two three times. "You know who I am ?" The airlines representative kept silent for a while and then later, she announced that here's one person who doesn't know who he is. Can anyone help this gentleman ? It's funny story but from another angle it gives a message never/ever ask anyone who you are? That means you need to search you yourself ... you need to identify yourself on your own ... noone can help. Neither religion nor guru nor books none other than you yourself. These can just guide you how to achive that. One philosphy might be great for a person which might not be ok for me. More later. Current Mood: calm | | Friday, August 11th, 2006 | | 3:38 pm |
